Give a Celebration Birthday Dessert to Someone In Need

Celebrating a birthday is something that many of us do without a second thought. We do things that we especially enjoy and visit loved ones, who most often prepare our favorite meal on that day. But there are many in the world who are unable to celebrate because they are forgotten, financially unstable, or otherwise isolated. Some are trying to forget that day altogether, feeling that they don’t deserve a celebration or can’t afford it.

As Kitchen Manager for the Lawrence Community Shelter (LCS) for several years I witnessed the positive impact that fresh and specially prepared food had on people’s lives. Those moments were undoubtedly the best part of my job. So on my birthday I liked to make cake—for everyone.

I would like to continue and expand on this tradition. Through a special arrangement with LCS you can provide celebration birthday desserts for those who cannot afford it or feel forgotten. I will be able to provide dessert for 200 people who rely on the Shelter in my community at the beginning of each month.

Everyone deserves food, clothing, company and a safe space to lay their head. I hope to brighten the lives of those less fortunate. Because its important to not just survive our years, but to celebrate them.

  • Absolutely! When selecting your donation amount, you are able to choose from a drop-down menu the rate at which you would like to contribute.

Thank you, to the April Birthday Donors!

I am so, so thankful to all of the donations received last month that made this cake possible! Mo, head chef, was over the moon to serve this to the shelter residents. So many thanks were given to him and other staff for this fresh dessert.

All cakes can be fun, but making something so big like this was incredibly satisfying. I’m very excited for next month and will be thinking of a flavor for May!

The massive April cake had two layers of chocolate cake sandwiching and topped with cookies and cream mousse!
